If you have more than one day in Athens, we suggest a great way to see Greece. Visit three beautiful islands, Hydra, Poros and Aegina, shop, have a lunch, be entertained on board and enjoy the sea air. It’s available with Archaeologous.
You are picked up near your hotel and after a lovely 15 minute drive you arrive at the small port where the friendly crew is waiting to welcome you on board. Plenty of room both inside and out on the double deck boat. Have your camera ready as you will be seeing islands and mainland Greece along the way.
Hydra is first and the farthest distance from Athens, with it cannon guarded small port. Donkeys are everyplace! Make sure to walk up past the fist rows of enticing shops and cafes as you are in Hydra for about 1 1/2 hours. There you can witness how life is ‘lived’ on Hydra. Donkeys are the only transportation so they carry everything from groceries to whatever is unloaded from the boats (including you if you wish).
Poros is next with it’s calm beautiful nestled port town. Here there is a restaurant that has a wonderful Mediterranean buffet for you. The line goes fast for obtaining your food and then you have about half an hour for sightseeing.
Aegina was the first capital of Greece at one point in history, and is now the pitaschio capital instead (definitely get the pistachio ice cream).
Here you have the opportunity to sign up for a guided tour to the Temple of Aphaia which is the most ‘well preserved TWO story temple in Greece”. On this tour you will also be taken to the monastery and largest cathedral in Greece built to honor the St Nitarius. You guide will show you the elaborate detail of workmanship found inside.
Back on the boat for the homestretch of the day, you will be entertained by the onboard pianist that sings songs from all the countries represented, so don’t be surprised, if you like us yesterday are entertained with dancing from people from China, Australia, Brazil, South Amercia and India.
A great time for the whole family. Get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org for booking.
